My Salmiakki Life reflects my journey as an immigrant woman in Finland through the years I have spent in my new home country. I moved to Finland with my family from Slovakia in 2016. For the first few years, I felt super lonely, with lots of unresolved feelings related to the big life change that immigration certainly is.
Immigration is a lifelong strategy for navigating a new culture, a new environment, and a new system. Every stage of my expat life brings new challenges, and I am exploring who I was and who I become all over again.
As I have always loved writing, I established this webpage in 2021 for my blogging. For several years, I welcomed contributions from other authors, but starting from May 2025, I became the only content creator.
